Surburban streets across Wollongong are about to look and smell sweeter, as people who successfully put their hand up for a Verge Garden Grant to grow ‘mini veggie gardens’ in their front yards, streets and pathways for the benefit of the community have started sowing their seeds.
“Planting shrubs, vegetables, herbs, flowers and ground covers on verges is a simple way to make our communities more liveable and offer opportunities for people to connect with their neighbours,” Cr Gordon Bradbery, Wollongong’s Lord Mayor said.
