Invest in the long term health and safety of your trees. Keeping your garden and trees maintained may increase your property value.

A well maintained landscape with mature trees can increase property values up to 25 percent. Trees can cool houses in the summer. A garden with 30% plant cover provides the equivalent cooling necessary to air condition two moderately sized homes for 12 hours a day in the summer

Bad pruning is easy to do!!

Good pruning isn’t.

Good pruning is essential in promoting and supporting a tree to have a strong growth pattern and increase its aesthetic value.A correctly pruned tree can be a valuable asset to your home. So much so that property values may increase because, trees are usually more expensive and take longer to become established than other garden plants. They deserve to be treated as an investment.

In order to improve its structure and depending on the growth pattern of the species, you can safely prune your trees by 10% – 15% of the canopy at any one time. Ideally no more than 40% of the canopy should be pruned, if more is pruned off it leaves the tree susceptible to temperature stress (sunburn). When pruning, there is a limited area in which you should make the final cut. Branches or limbs should be cut to a suitable growth point e.g the Branch Collar.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator style=”blank_divider” paddingtop=”20″ paddingbottom=”20″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5448″ img_link_target=”_blank” img_size=”470×320″ alignment=”center” img_link_large=”yes” img_link=”http://old.bohmerstreecare.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/pruned.jpg” css_animation=”bottom-to-top”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5986″ img_link_target=”_blank” img_size=”470×320″ alignment=”center” img_link_large=”yes” img_link=”http://old.bohmerstreecare.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/pruned-tree3.jpg” css_animation=”bottom-to-top”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_separator style=”blank_divider” paddingtop=”20″ paddingbottom=”20″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]

Branch Collar

The Branch Collar is the swollen part of a branch that conjoins it to the trunk or its parent branch. The swelling is composed of tissue from that branch only.

Cut any closer and a major and possibly fatal wound may occur. Cutting the branch at a growth point is the preferred method of pruning. Bad pruning is simply a waste of money and time which causes harm to your tree and in most cases involves expensive repair or removal.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”4696″ img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_blank” img_size=”320×470″ img_link=”http://old.bohmerstreecare.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/b5.jpg”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
